The Bihar player was unable to compete in the Ranji Trophy because they had not competed in the event for the previous 18 years. However, Roy, like his friend Ishan Kishan, relocated to Jharkhand to pursue his ambition of playing in the Ranji Trophy. He had previously represented Jharkhand Under-19s before being called up to the Indian Team by Rahul Dravid. During England’s journey to India in February 2017, he made his debut for the U19 team.
Anukul’s selection for the IPL was only inevitable because he was riding high from winning the U19 World Cup. He was put up for auction in the Mega IPL auction of 2018 and was purchased by Mumbai Indians for his basic price of Rs 20 lakh. Anukul had to wait for his opportunity because Krunal Pandya was the team’s most experienced left-arm spinner, but he did make his IPL debut in 2019 and took one wicket in his single game.
