She was brutally stabbed to death with sharp scissors while doing hospital duty by a middle-aged man. The suspect was brought to the Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital by the police. The killer was identified as a 42-year-old who was a school teacher from Pooyappally in the Kollam district of Kerala. His name is Sandeep.
This murder created a spark of anger among all the healthcare professionals in Kerala. Now, they are demanding strict legal action against the people who commit such brutal and violent acts against healthcare professionals. They protested in rage and demanding for justice. Several medical union and communities are raising their voice against this.

According to the police administration, this crime suspect named Sandeep is an upper primary school teacher. He was found intoxicated with alcohol in his hometown Pooyappally with injuries on one of his legs. The cops picked him up for help and they got call of him to the control room for help as he was injured when the police came he was under the influence of alcohol and totally intoxicated. He was apprehended by the cops and taken to the hospital for medical examination. Two people, including a close relative, accompanied him to the health facility to dress his wounds.
In the mid of the treatment in the hospital, Sandeep also attacked an on-duty policeman and a random person in the dressing room of the hospital. Seeing this, everyone around him rushed and ran away except for Dr Vandana Das, who could not run. Sandeep then took a scissor from the dressing room and stabbed Dr Vandana multiple times. She suffered multiple injuries on her chest and neck and was immediately taken to a hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, where she eventually died.
The tragic victim, Dr Vandana Das, succumbed to the five stab wounds she sustained in the neck and her back. Sandeep has been transported to trauma care to check for alcohol consumption or drug use.
